This calculator converts between every common pay period at once.

How to use this salary converter
- Enter your pay amount and choose how often it is paid.

Salary to hourly formula
Hourly pay = yearly salary ÷ (hours per week × paid weeks per year)
Yearly salary = hourly pay × hours per week × paid weeks per year
Monthly pay is yearly pay ÷ 12, semi-monthly is ÷ 24 and bi-weekly is weekly pay × 2. A month is not exactly four weeks: there are about 4.33 weeks and 173.33 full-time hours in an average month.
Salary to hourly calculator example
A yearly salary of 60,000, working 40 hours a week for 52 paid weeks:
- Hours per year = 40 × 52 = 2,080
- Hourly = 60,000 ÷ 2,080 ≈ 28.85
- Monthly = 60,000 ÷ 12 = 5,000
- Bi-weekly = 60,000 ÷ 26 ≈ 2,307.69

If only 50 weeks are paid, the same salary works out to 60,000 ÷ 2,000 = 30.00 an hour.

Salary vs hourly: what to compare
- Overtime – hourly workers are often paid extra for overtime; salaried staff may not be.
- Benefits – paid leave, health cover and retirement contributions can be worth a large share of pay.
- Unpaid time – reduce paid weeks if you will not be paid for holidays.
- Taxes – take-home pay depends on local income tax and deductions.
A quick shortcut: hourly pay × 2,000 is roughly the yearly salary for a full-time job (the exact figure is × 2,080).
