Editorial Policy

How Calculator Empire builds, checks and updates its calculators and articles, and how to report an error.

Last updated October 2026

Our promise

Every calculator should give the right answer and show how it got there. We publish the formula, a worked example and the sources behind each tool so readers can check our work.

How a calculator is built

  1. Research: we take formulas from primary sources – government agencies, central banks, standards bodies, peer-reviewed research and established textbooks.
  2. Build: the calculator is coded and every input is checked for sensible limits.
  3. Test: results are compared against hand calculations and the worked example on the page before publishing.
  4. Review: finance, tax and health tools are reviewed by a qualified reviewer named on the page.
  5. Update: pages that depend on rates, tax slabs or guidelines are re-checked at least once a year and whenever the rules change.

Who writes and reviews

  • [Founder name] – Founder and editor. [Short bio and credentials]
  • [Finance reviewer name] – [Qualification, e.g. Chartered Accountant]. Reviews finance and tax calculators.
  • [Health reviewer name] – [Qualification, e.g. MBBS or registered dietitian]. Reviews health calculators.

Sources and citations

Each calculator page lists its sources. We prefer official and primary sources and avoid relying on other calculator websites.

Independence

Advertising, if shown, never changes a formula or result. We do not accept payment to recommend lenders, products or services inside calculator results.

Corrections

If you find an error, please contact us with the page and the numbers you used. We check every report, fix confirmed errors quickly and update the “Last updated” date on the page.

Not professional advice

Results are estimates for information and education. For decisions about loans, investments, taxes or health, speak to a qualified professional.
